Hyatt Place Austin Airport Review
Hyatt Places are usually not exciting affairs, I’ll admit. But, what does excite me in the travel world is a great deal. Often, a primo travel hack I employ often is staying somewhere cheap the first night of a vacation, if my flight gets into a destination late. When a flight arrived in Austin at 11 PM, I knew that spending 15,000+ World of Hyatt points to stay in downtown Austin was in the cards. However, the on-airport property Hyatt Place Austin Airport provided a clean, comfortable room, for only 5,000 World of Hyatt points!
Booking
As mentioned, the Hyatt Place Austin Airport is a Category 1 Hyatt property, meaning it will cost 3,500, 5,000 or 6,500 points, depending on the off-peak, standard, or peak dates of travel. For these dates, it was the standard 5,000 points, instead of a $200 base rate before taxes and fees. That’s over 4 cents per point in value, which is double what I try to redeem Hyatt points for normally.
I’m a World of Hyatt Globalist member, but there aren’t many great perks available at Hyatt Places. They do offer a welcome bag of snacks to Globalists, plus there’s free parking on award stays and 4 PM guaranteed late check out.
Check In
I arrived off of my flight in the late evening, and a quick call to the hotel sent a shuttle to the airport’s pickup area within five minutes. It’s a quick journey to the hotel, where check in was immediate and I was in my two-queen room.
The Room
For a full room tour, check out my video above. If you’ve stayed at a Hyatt Place before, this room tour will be familiar to you. Pretty much every Hyatt Place I’ve ever stayed in has looked like this, with a small living room area as you enter, and the bedroom partially partitioned off. There’s a TV that can pivot between the two areas, which is an efficient use of space. The bathroom is functional, with a sliding door to separate it from the main room. The room gets the job done!
Amenities (Pool, Gym, Restaurants)
There’s aren’t a ton of amenities at Hyatt Places- usually a basic pool, gym, and lobby bar that has some microwavable entrées. This can vary- for instance, the Hyatt Place Los Cabos in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico had a full restaurant. This property had the former, but I was very impressed with the gym, which was a little newer than what I’ve seen from other Hyatt Place properties.
Overall
The Hyatt Place Austin Airport is an excellent option for early/late flights out of Austin, Texas, and a good option for those that really need to save money in comparison to a downtown Austin hotel. If you have Hyatt points, this represents an excellent deal for a redemption during your travels. I’ll be back!
